About Joan Bláfoss

Bio:

Joan tried the triathlon for the first time in 2002 and became fascinated by the sport immediately. Unfortunately she was involved in a serious accident in 2003 that kept her from the sport until 2004. Because of “the accidental” setback her first real season was in 2005. The competitions went well and therefore she chose to spend more time training. Joan started working with a personal trainer who assists her scheduling and planning of the training, as well as guidance in the process to achieve her goals.

The first goals were set for 2006. That was to compete in the elite division in Denmark. Joan reached the goals with a 4th place at the Danish Championships in Olympic distance and a 6th place in the Danish Championships in Long Distance which at the same time was her first half ironman distance competition.

In 2007 the goal was to achieve better results in Denmark and to participate at international competitions.

This year became a really good year with good results in Denmark as well as internationally.
In 2008 the goal was to finish in top 5 at the international races Joan attended. She experienced a breakthrough as she won her first international race at the Lisbon International Triathlon in Lisbon, Portugal. The win was also a qualification for the World Championships in Long Distance Triathlon in Almere, Holland, representing the Danish National team. This world championship was another GOOD day as Joan finished 7th and won the Gold Medal for teams.

Beside triathlon races she also attended some running competitions in 2008. At the Danish Championships in Cross Country Running she finished 3rd. At the Danish Championships in 10K she finished 2nd, setting a personal record of 35.33minutes.

In 2008 the results in Brasschaat, Danish Championships and World Championships placed Joan 3rd on the 2008 ITU Long Distance Rankings.
